Feudi di San Gregorio is the only winery from Campania to have achieved two stars in Gamberro Rosso after winning the prestigious Three Glasses award 20 times.
Aspri Spirits has introduced four labels from the Feudi Di San Gregorio portfolio, namely, Greco di Tufo DOCG, Sannio Falanghina DOC, Rubrato Campania Aglianico IGT and Taurasi DOCG, a complex red wine, considered one to be one of Italy´s most elegant and powerful wines, whose first vintage was 1991.
Feudi was founded by husband-and-wife team Enzo Ercolino and Mirella Capaldo in the mid-1980s. Over the past two decades it has won over both wine classicists and modernists by taking novel approaches to the region’s unique volcanic terroir while still respecting the essence of indigenous grape varieties like Fiano, Aglianico and Greco di Tufo.
Star winemaker Riccardo Cotarella has teamed up with the ultra super star French Champagne maker Anselme Selosse to create a series of unique and high-end sparkling wines for Feudi di San Gregorio. The modern winery was designed by a Milan based Japanese architect and is seriously stylish with a dramatic and atmospherically lit cellar, a tasting room, an elegant wine bar and a wine shop.
On this occasion, Aspri Spirits along with the Grand Hyatt Mumbai had organized a special wine dinner at Cellini, Grand Hyatt’s speciality Italian restaurant. Master Chef Alessandro Persico prepared a delectable Campania meal that matched the exquisite taste of Feudi Di San Gregorio wines. The guests enjoyed the flavorsome taste of Mozzarella in Carrozza Su Crema al Basilico (Deep fried Breaded Buffalo Mozzarella Served over Pesto Cream Velouté) and the lip-smacking Polpettine di Baccala in Agretto di Pomodoro (Sauté Cod Fish Meat Balls in Sweet and Sour Tomato Vinaigrette), Medaglioni di Bufalo alla Pizzaiola (Pan seared Buffalo Medallion with capers, olives, oregano and fresh tomato sauce), Sfogliatella alla Napoletana (Flaky pastry stuffed with Ricotta cheese served with Vanilla Gelato) to name a few items.
Speaking on the occasion, Export Director Francesca Festa, said, “The Feudi di San Gregorio winery has a reputation for being one of Campania’s quality wineries. With India recognized as one of the fastest growing wine markets in the world we wanted to start our brand with a company that can safeguard the brand’s reputation.”
Francesca began her career with Feudi in 2004 and today with her deep knowledge and
understanding of the territory and passion for wines, she hopes to be the ambassador of Feudi all over the world.
Commenting on the event, Sumedh Singh Mandla said, “Campania is one of finest and among the fastest wine-growing regions in Italy. Historically, the Campania region is very well known globally for the ancient Greek grape varietals produced here. Feudi di San Gregorio is the finest and most awarded brand for Campania and we are excited to add this brand to our portfolio. I am confident that these aromatic whites and robust reds will find good patronage and success among the wine enthusiasts across India”.
Priced between Rs. 3010 to 3590 in Mumbai, the wines are distributed in 10 cities in India and available at all leading hotels, restaurants and select retail outlets across the country.
