Deepak Shettigar, a New Delhi based F&B professional, has been awarded the inaugural BorVilág – VinCE Scholarship for 2013/2014 by Péter Csizmadia-Honigh and VinCE Magazin, Hungary’s leading wine title. Deepak (who is pictured, left) was selected through a highly competitive process at the 6th Indian Sommelier Championship in December 2013.
The championship, now in its sixth year and arguably the only professional challenge of its kind in India, was organised by the Institute of Wine + Beverage Studies, Delhi. Deepak is currently the manager at the 360° Restaurant of The Oberoi New Delhi and previously worked as the assistant manager at Le Cirque Restaurant in the Leela Palace New Delhi.
This coveted scholarship, valued at £2,000, has been created by Peter Csizmadia-Honigh in association with VinCE, Hungary’s leading consumer wine magazine, and Creative Services Support Group, an innovative charitable organisation that brings together the world of art to create opportunities for young, underprivileged Indians to fulfill their potential.
Deepak will travel to Hungary at the end of February to attend VinCE Budapest, Hungary’s most significant wine event of the year; and to visit producers in the historic cellars of Tokaj, Eger and Somló among other major regions in Hungary.
