The sudden and total abolition of customs duties on wine just before Vinexpo 2008 served to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a dynamic market for wine and focussed the attention of members of the international wine and spirits trade seeking to do business in Asia.
After the success of Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2008 which hosted 692 exhibitors from 32 countries and welcomed 8,868 visitors, the trade is gearing up for another landmark event in Hong Kong. More than 9,500 professional visitors including importers, wholesalers, food and beverage managers, sommeliers, restaurateurs, and supermarket buyers are expected to attend from this fast-developing region. This year, 800 exhibitors from around 30 countries have signed on.
Tapping into the growing interest among Asian consumers in wine and spirits, Vinexpo Asia-Pacific with its 8,000 sq. m. of stands at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) along the the magnificent Victoria Harbour, offers exhibitors and visitors, alike, the opportunity to explore new markets and interact with top buyers, importers and distributors.
The three-day event has a diverse programme of guided tastings, discussions and seminars that will help participants identify Asian drinking habits and evaluate their product ranges while doing business directly with producers and exporters.
