News in Brief – New wineries to open in Nashik

Grover Zampa Vineyards NashikNashik, March 14, 2016 – Seven new wineries are likely to open in the next year or two in Godavari Wine Park at Vinchur, about 60 km from Nashik, according to a TOI report. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has received an expression of interest for the purpose. The interested parties are seeking from half to 2.5 acre plots with an investment ranging between Rs 75 lakh to 6.87 crore. The total investment in the proposed wineries is expected to be Rs 20 crore.

The state government developed the Godavari Wine Park at Vinchur in 2001 to promote the wine industry. Out of a total of 133 hectares, the wine park came up on 83 hectares with 37 wineries, although only five wineries are operational. The remaining 50 hectares was reserved for food processing units.
