Thematic tastings at Château Climens, starting September

Château Climens in Barsac, Bordeaux in southwestern France

World famous for its dessert wines, Barsac is one of the communes of the Sauternes appellation situated on the northern boundary of the Sauternes commune, on the left bank of the Garonne river. With red sand and light gravel soils on slightly flatter land than Sauternes, Barsac has a little over 800 hecatres under vine and around two million bottles produced on average annually. Barsac wines are a little lighter in style, less liquorous and more fruity than Sauternes.

Offering thematic tastings starting September, Château Climens is the quintessence  of the Barsac appellation, producing the greatest sauternes. Built as a chartreuse, a traditional style home in the 17th century by the Roborel de Climens family over more than two centuries ago,  Climens is headed by Bérénice Lurton who has taken it from strength to strength.
